Mission: Provide opportunities for elementary schoolers to get social interaction during the pandemic that was educational and engaging.

Solution: Virtual small-group sessions led by high school volunteers where kids played games, made art, and improved their reading skills.
Young students struggled during the months of online school as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, I held my first weekly online sessions with a few of my brother’s friends. Parents started chatting and interest spread, leading me to reach out to some of my high school peers to hold more weekly sessions with other students. Over the course of the pandemic, until August 2021, I worked with dozens of 8-12 year old students, creating a curriculum from scratch designed to engage them in social activities while they learned something new.
If you’re ever in need of online activities for students, please reach out to me via email! We designed arts and crafts, read-alouds, games, and more that can be done via Zoom with minimal supplies.
